Dr. Bob Waugh
Dr. Waugh, a native Georgian, has been practicing in Athens since 1989. He received his BS degree from Mercer University in 1983. In 1987 Dr. Waugh became the first graduate of the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry (now called Georgia Health Sciences University College of Dental Medicine) with combined D.M.D./M.S. in Oral Biology degrees. Upon graduation he was elected to Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU), the national dental honor society. Dr. Waugh attended his residency in orthodontics at the Baylor College of Dentistry and earned his certificate of specialization in 1989. He became Board-certified as a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics in 2000.
Dr. Waugh participates in many related activities that keep him abreast of the latest developments in orthodontic care. He has been teaching orthodontics at Georgia Health Science University since 1990, giving resident courses in a variety of areas that include Interdisciplinary Dentistry, Orthognathic Surgery, and Orthodontic Business Management. He served as president of the Clarke County Dental Society, as well as the Georgia Association of Orthodontists. In 2005 he co-founded the acclaimed Athens Dentofacial Interdisciplinary Study Club.
Dr. Billy Allen
Dr. Billy Allen, a native Athenian, graduated from Emory University School of Dentistry in 1969 with a D.D.S. degree and was elected to the Omicron Kappa Upsilon honor society. After three years in the U.S. Air Force he returned to Emory, earning a Certificate of Orthodontics in 1974. He then opened his practice in Athens. In 2002 Dr. Allen and Dr. Waugh merged their offices. While Dr. Allen is retired, he might occasionally be seen around, so thank him for the service he provided for us all for over 40 years!
