Orthodontics is both an art and an evolving science with frequent developments in techniques, technology, and treatment. Our office regularly attends seminars and conferences devoted to orthodontic treatment and patient care; with patient care as our top priority, this is our commitment to you.
Appointments
Your scheduled appointment time has been reserved specifically for you. We are proud of our exceptional on-time percentage rate. We request 24 hours notice if you need to change your appointment for any reason. While we are aware that unforeseen events sometimes require missing an appointment, after missing a second appointment without notifying us 24 hours in advance, you may be subject to an additional fee.
We know our patients’ time is very valuable and we respect that. If for any reason you have been sitting the waiting room for 10 minutes, please check with our receptionist to see if you have gotten signed in correctly. Also, in consideration of all our patients, if you are 15 minutes late for your appointment, we may have to ask you to reschedule to keep everyone else finishing on time
Remember that your treatment planned out by Dr. Waugh follows a prescribed course of care over a set period of time at specific intervals. Interruptions may result in longer treatment as we work around any missed appointments. We call with patient appointment reminders the night prior to your scheduled visit through our HouseCalls system. We also offer email reminders so please give us your current email address.
Emergencies
Unexpected events can naturally occur with orthodontic care. After all, there are lots of moving parts! In addition to after-hours emergency care, we have Athens' only dedicated orthodontic “Care Center” to manage your emergency needs -- usually on the same weekday you call. Here, one of our assistants gifted with hundreds of hours of experience managing emergencies takes care of your needs. Remember that loose brackets and broken wires delay treatment, so it’s in everyone’s interest to take care of them as soon as possible. Please call as soon as you know something needs attention; we will see you in a timely manner and will take care of the immediate need.
Insurance
Our office is committed to helping you maximize your insurance benefits. Because every insurance policy is different, while we can estimate your coverage prior to starting treatment. In good faith, we cannot guarantee coverage because of the unique complexities of individual insurance contracts.
Your estimated patient portion must be contractually committed to at the time of service, as arranged with your treatment coordinator. As a service, we bill insurance companies for services and allow them up to 45 days to render payment, actually giving them 15 days longer than Georgia law allows. However, after 60 days you are responsible for the entire insurance balance due, paid-in-full.
